    Hi,
Types is great but what stop me to using it is repeatable groups management.
Should be possible to have a simple repeatable “Group container” that doesn’t requires to save the post, before to make it working?

All work required to create a new custom post, connect with parent and all that jazz, only to repeat a group of fields, seems redundant, to me.

    Thanks in advance

What you’re saying makes good sense. We want to make Types easier to use.

Have you tried editing child fields from a parent post? This works without a full page refresh. Once set up, you click on the ‘New’ button to create another row of data.

    Complete instructions here:

    Hi Amir,
I tried to mix static and repeatable fields with repeatable group in the same post.
I followed your documentation, also because without is impossible to guess how to do it.
Using child group from a parent post and without save at least draft, it’s impossible to see the fields as there is a string that ask to save to show it.
Actually, after saved it, all works fine but process to reach this is a nightmare, create custom field, create connection with parent, hide from menu list and wait to save to see, isn’t really a friendly procedure.
Need a repeatable group container that user can simply activate as other fields.
    IMO of course ??
Thanks in any case for your work and I’m going to look at your Cred.

You’re right. Before saving the first draft, you cannot establish parent / child relationship. This is because the post doesn’t have an ID yet.

I think that we should somehow wrap the entire process, so that it’s a lot easier for you to setup, all from one place. It’s on our todo list, but keeps getting pushed due to other things that come first.

For example, right now, we’re trying to complete compatibility with WP 3.5. I’m sure that we’ll have new urgent stuff after that.

That’s just how it is, we want to accomplish a lot, but have limited resources and need to decide what’s first. I’m sure you know how that is.

    Hi Amir,
I understand that between WPML, Types, Views and now other two plugins and with WP 3.5 just in front of the door, isn’t easy to manage, support and upgrade all, don’t worry.

Anyway, when storm will be passed, please consider to add this feature to Types.
(and may be, build a unique premium plugin with Views ;).
    Thanks

    Hi,
I read that a new release is upcoming, any update about better repeatable groups management?
    Thanks in advance

I’m in need of this repeating group functionality too MacItaly. I totally understand that compatibility with the latest version of WP takes priority but I do think repeating groups is a very basic need for a custom field plugin. I would happily pay for an addon that allows the use of repeating fields, like other plugins do i.e. Advanced Custom Fields.

Types 1.1.5, which we’re completing in about 10 days will have some improvements to repeating fields, but almost no change in repeating field groups.

So far, our recommendation for repeating field groups is to use Types’ parent / child relationship:
    https://wp-types.com/documentation/user-guides/creating-groups-of-repeating-fields-using-fields-tables/

It’s not trivial to use and we’re planning a major round of usability improvements, including hiding all this complexity when it’s not needed. All this will go into Types 1.2, which is currently scheduled for around the end of February.

    Hi Amir,
Types 1.2 is out but I don’t see changes about repeatable groups method, did I miss something or this feature has been postponed or abandoned?
    Thanks in advance
