Better than BackUpWordPress
-
There are a lot of plugins that do backups, but there are few that do backups and make copies to cloud services like Dropbox or Google Drive. This is the only plugin that I know of that works flawless on all types of server configurations and even does copies to one cloud service of choice for free.
I have a few dozen WP sites I once build and still update and backup for customers.
Before updraftPlus, I used BUWP (BackUpWordPress) for a year. I even had the $100/year ‘developer version’, (for a 50% discount) which means you can make backups to FTP and cloud services for a year.
The problem with BUWP is, that it doesn’t work on some servers or sometimes even stopped working after an update. Sure, their support will enthusiastically look into it and sometimes even come with an update for the plugin, but that can take a dozen of mails, will cost you a lot of time because they’ll ask you to do tests and this quest will not always end with a solution. Sometimes the hosting company involved would not add a certain library or they would insist it was available already, while the BUWP support would argue it was not, leaving me stuck in the middle. So at the end of the discounted year, I had to pay for another year of BUWP, that cost me hours per month..
It’s hard for me to earn some money on building WP sites as it is. Since the manual backups I make before each update are often the most important ones, it’s not that much work to do a download as well and drag it to Dropbox or Google Drive instead of spending $100 per year just on an automated copy of backups to the cloud.
So far, updraftPlus has never failed to backup. And copy to the cloud. Thank you!
PS
How about support for Mega.nz?
