better to install plugins for all sites, or just those that will use the plugin?

  • like my title, i’m curious if there’s a huge performance factor on a plugin if it’s…

    installed via network>>enabled on all sites

    or

    installed via network>>enabled on certain sites

    i.e., a form plugin, won’t be used on most sites, so will the performance of wp deteriorate more or less if it’s enabled on all sites, or won’t it matter?

    since i’m doing a fresh, clean install of a mu setup, installing the plugins via the network admin and using another plugin (just to be sure since some don’t play nice) that forces the enabling to all sites, i’m just wondering if that’s a good idea or not.

    obviously, if enabling plugins to operate on all network sites, then using a user role type plugin to ‘hide’ certain features works just fine, it’s just a matter of un-checking (or checking) what plugin you’d like a user to have. but, again, does enabling a plugins to all sites hurt wp’s performance?

    appreciate any thoughts.
