    hi.

some time in the past few days my site, BudeStringscaught the dreaded white screen of death – front and back end. i logged onto the site via ftp and started by renaming the plugin directory to deactivate all plugins – the site (sort of) worked again. going through the plugins seems to narrow the culprit down to better-wp-security. the directory for this plugin is currently renamed (i added a ~ character before the name) and the site is working fine.

i need to have this plugin working as i’ve had a lot of trouble with hackers on this site and this plugin was the solution.

    many thanks, jan

  • I found a temporary solution if you haven’t already found out yourself. Rolling back to version 3.4.4 gets BWPS working again. All of the other versions after 3.4.4 cause this white screen lockout, both front and back end.

thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, and did i mention – thank you?

worked a treat. i have had a string of plugins fall over and break like glass after updates in the past two weeks. better wp security, backwpup and login screen manager have been the biggest nightmares.

i look forward to hearing what the problem was with this one….

Hey budestrings (jan) and karizmuh, I’ve been having the exact same issue but I can’t find a version to roll back to.

Any ideas of where I can download?

    hi.

i keep better wp-security at version 3.4.10. or maybe its 3.4.4. whenever an update comes up i edit better-wp-security.php and enter the latest version number. this stops my legacy version flagging up on update notifications. it works perfectly for me.

contact me via https://www.budestrings.co.uk/contact/ and i’ll send you the legacy version i am using.

    cheers, jan
