Better WP Security Disaster – Cannot Log In as Admin Now

  • A few days ago I installed the Better WP Security plugin after reading some excellent reviews. All was fine for one day, then my site stopped working with various errors that I described in an earlier post.     I restored my entire web directory on my host server and (believe that I have correctly) restored the sql databases to their status as of the day before I added the plugin. The site seems to function now (see https://www.gdanmitchell.com/), except that I’m unable to login using my admin account(s).

    After entering username and password on the wordpress “login” page I get “ERROR: Invalid registration status.” In the sql database I do see the wp-users tables and I do see my account there. I have followed advice from other sources to retype the password directly into the database field, but that has not fixed the problem.

    (I read a hint that this could, in some way, be related to Sabre and how it handles existing accounts prior to its installation.)

    So, I’m stuck. Can’t log in to administer my site. Ideas, suggestions, solutions gratefully accepted.
