Better WP Security and Moving to new Domain – Duplicator – Site Crashes
-
Hi there,
great plugin, loooove it! Thanks for that ??
I am using wp better security on all of my wordpress sites. I wanted to move a site to a new domain and encountered a severe problem:
To move the site I duplicated it (via the duplicator plugin), and since I wanted a fresh look, I also installed a the new theme on the new domain
Question here: Would this approach somehow interfere with the better wp security plugin? So bascially taking a site and duplicating it by replacing the old domain name with the new domain name everywhere (all settings in better wp security are the same)? Or should this be basically okay?
–> In addition to moving the site, I then installed the free “delicacy” theme on that new domain. All initially looked and worked fine. However, when browsing through posts and pages on the site quickly, the entire site went blank with an “error” message on the page. I could not access anything – not even wordpress backend. Debug said that something with the custom background in function.php was not up to date with wordpress 3.4 – I changed that but still no change. After a while the site then worked again. I have no idea why. The same error occured again and again. While the site was blank again I renamed better wp security plugin folder and voila – the site worked. No more errors. So I assume that the problem is either 1) the delicacy theme does not work with the better wp security plugin or 2) Duplicating the site was the reason for the problem — so this somehow is not good for the better wp security settings etc.
So my question more or less is: Should moving the site to a new domain with the SAME settings etc in the better wp security plugin be okay with the way the plugin works? Or could this be reason for the error?
I hope you can help me out ??
Thanks a lot,
