Beware of this Plugin

  • This plugin seriously messed up my site. All of a sudden all pages took a long time to load. In the lower left corner it says it’s waiting for “mrstats.strangebutfunny.net”. I did an internet search and found this URL was associated with “Alex”. So, I deactivated this plugin. The problem was solved. This just started after I updated the plugin.

  • I had exactly the same problem but with a different plugin from the same authors – in this case it was their mysql backup plugin.

    Something has gone wrong here – and they need to fix it before their reputation is trashed. I have notified my server’s support staff of the problems with “Alex and Anthony” plugins.

    Well, they don’t seem to be particularly concerned about this problem since they haven’t addressed it here. Oh well.

    After this happened, I did a Zone Alarm scan for viruses and found nothing. So hopefully they weren’t trying to do anything dodgy, they just screwed up their code.
