The second release candidate for BGMP 1.9.3 is now available. This release fixes a few bugs found in RC1. I’m not sure whether the JSON line break bug is fixed, though, so I need some help testing this.

If you’d like to try it out, just download and install it. If you notice any problems, give detailed feedback here and then downgrade to 1.8 until they’re fixed.

If you don’t notice any problems, please leave a quick note here so that I know it’s working for others.

I’ve setup an email list to notify everyone when new RCs are available in the future. That way you’ll have time to test it out on your staging server, and we can work out any bugs before the official release.

  • Hi Ian

Just letting you know that I signed up for the email list when you first announced it and I received the subscription confirmation email okay (on 21 November). However, I didn’t receive a notification about this release of BGMP via that list – I heard about it only via my subscription to this support forum.

Thanks for the update. So far no troubles. I particularly thankful for the ability to have a map with a single placemark using a shortcode like this: [bgmp-map placemark=”147″]

The only thing that I thought would make this feature slightly more intuitive would be to overwrite the default map center address in the settings with the address of the individual placemarker’s address.

I’m manually resetting the center in each shortcode but if it’s an easy fix before release it would be a nice touch.

Cheers and thanks again for the fantastic plugin!

    Hi Ian

Thanks for the latest RC and thank you for persevering with this problem. Everything looks good – just 1 minor blip I thought I would mention (rather than just finding a work-round myself):

    check: https://www.pilates4life.co.uk/courses/maps/west-drayton/

the “-” in the placemark name is now rendered as &#8211, not something that happened with earlier versions of the plugin.

Hope this helps – and thanks again for top-drawer support!

@gillian, I didn’t send anything to the mailing list yet since you’re the only one who’s signed up, and I knew you’d get the notification from one of the other threads ??

@es.tr, That’s a good point. I’ve pushed that to trunk and will release a new RC for it in the next few weeks.

@magic_square, I’m glad that the line break bug is fixed. I’m not able to reproduce the problem with dashes being converted to their HTML entity, though. I’ve tested with regular dashes, Unicode 2013 (en dash) and Unicode 2014 (em dash) and they are displayed correctly. Did you just type the dash into WP directly, or copy/paste from a word processing application?

    Hi,
I’ve done a French translation of your plugin. Do you want to include it in the next release (in replacement of the machine translation)?

Thanks, Ian, I guess that makes me a nerd ??

By the way, I forgot to say earlier that I’m now running 1.9.3-rc2 on both my sites with no apparent problems.

@kerfred, I really appreciate your willingness to help out. Someone else has already submited a new French translation, though. It’s available in 1.9.3-rc2, if you want to check if out. If there are any problems with it, feel free to submit improvements.

@gillian, thanks for the positive report ??
