I faced this problem with one of my client’s sites today after an upgrade. When I went to check the settings of the plugin somehow the second address field “apartment/suite” was now checked as required but since it did not have a label per se, it generated the odd error message “Billing ____ is a required field”. I unchecked it as required since it was not meant to be required to begin with, might be a plugin upgrade bug, and the checkout started working once again.

Hi @doubledevon, please update to the latest release, the Billing Address 2 field was being set to required by default which showed no required state.

I am running the latest version of WP and I am getting this error. Not only that but my Paypal and Stripe options don’t show up as options for checkout.
Please help. I’ve turned off all plugins, have deleted and downloaded new versions, have checked my api keys and have switched out themes and it is the same error in all of them. In test mode, I at least get the option to add the CC# in but then I get the Billing is a required field error.

I am also running the latest version of WC and still getting a billing required error. Please advise.

Me too! I really want to use your plugin but it won’t let me get past the cart without adding an apartment number, even though it says it’s optional.

I’m having the same issue. When a customer tries to purchase a product they get an error message saying “billing is a required field” and “shipping is a required field” even though every required field is filled out. I’m a newbie. the site is lucidblooms.com

I FIXED IT: HERE’S HOW!
I installed and activated the “Checkout Field Editor for Woocommerce” plugin by ThemeHigh. Then I went to its settings. It did have the “Apartment, suite, unit etc.” field marked as required in the ” billing fields” I edited it to make it optional on the billing and shipping fields.
Save the changes!

Presto! It’s fixed!

Has this issue been resolved? I am having the same issue. It is requiring an apartment number to check out. It’s set as a required option although I didn’t set that. Please advise as to what I should do to stop this.
