    Hi,

Yoast documentation suggests submitting URL/sitemap_index.xml to Bing Webmaster Tools, however when I do this Bing doesn’t appear to read the child sitemaps. Instead I get 3 URLs discovered and 0 Sitemaps discovered; it seems to be confusing the child sitemaps for URLs.

This issue doesn’t occur on Google Search Console, which correctly uses the sitemap index to find the three child sitemaps and all associated URLs.

What am I doing wrong? Should the child sitemaps be submitted manually to Bing?

    Hi @paizo

When checking our help center article, you should just submit the /sitemap_index.xml URL same as for Google Search Console.

We’re not sure why Bing isn’t able to pick up the sub-sitemaps while GSC is, but we recommend that you remove and resubmit the sitemap on Bing and monitor the results. Could you also provide us with the URL to your sitemap so we could check on the output?
