  • Send a screenshot link (use Cloudup.com if you don’t have a screenshot tool) of your upload directory for FTP, so I can see where you’re uploading the Bing verification file.

Remember, if the upload verification process is not working, then it has zero to do with AIOSEO and everything to do with something else, which we don’t know what that is.

If the file process doesn’t work and you don’t try the TXT method, then I don’t know what to tell you.

My host told me that because I’m using a subdomain, I can’t verify with bing

Ah, that’s it. You never mentioned you were using a subdomain.

EDIT: Sorry, you did mention it. See the next post.

Yes, you can only verify primary domains. Verification on the primary domain has an intended purpose of verifying the ownership of the domain itself by Google and/or Bing. Have you verified the primary domain?

    See: https://www.bing.com/webmaster/help/how-to-verify-ownership-of-your-site-afcfefc6

Ah, that’s it then. Your post with the subdomain escaped me, because it’s not something I usually see and it didn’t trigger something top of mind to respond about subdomains.

Can I ask why Google was able to verify my site

    According to Google:

    Verifying subdomains and subdirectories
You can create separate Search Console properties for different subdomains or subdirectories; in fact, we often recommend it, to be able to segment your data into useful groups.

If you are verified for a site, you are automatically verified for all subdirectories under that site. If you are verified for a domain, you are automatically verified for all subdomains of that domain, as well as all sites and subsites.

Here are our definitions of domain and site. These definitions are specific to Search Console verification:

https://example.com/ – A site (because it includes the https:// prefix)
    example.com/ – A domain (because it doesn’t include a protocol prefix)
    puppies.example.com/ – A subdomain of example.com
    https://example.com/petstore/ – A subdirectory of https://example.com site
If you delete the property for a parent domain or directory, you will still be verified for all child domains or directories.

Ok thanks again for your help

If you read Bing’s help document here: https://www.bing.com/webmaster/help/submit-urls-to-bing-62f2860a

It says, “To submit URLs using the Submit URL feature, simply add 1 URL per line and click Submit. The URLs are immediately evaluated for search indexation and when quality criteria are met we will begin to surfacing to searchers. Very useful in helping get important content indexed quickly, but there is a limit of 10 submissions per day, up to 50 (total) per month.
Note: the Submit URLs feature in Webmaster Tools is currently restricted to root domains only.”

Basically, Bing doesn’t accept subdomains at this time.
