Biography not saving on profile update v2.6.7

Try to do a Theme/Plugin conflict test to be sure about you don’t have a conflict.

Please make sure that there aren’t 2 “description” fields on your profile form. It can be in the case when you have the “show_bio” (Biography field in edit mode on profile page https://imgur.com/DXiPnxk) and the “Biography” (https://imgur.com/1P1pmmb) field at the same time. There is a conflict when you have 2 fields with the same name on the submitted form. Please leave only one field.

@nsinelnikov It seems like I am not using this field manually:

I also tried to disable all other plugins and it did not help, I also changed to the wordpress “Twenty Twenty-Three” theme. The field is also not saving…

Now it gets strange… Did you really test it?^^

I now downgarded in my staging environment to version 2.6.6 and it is working again. So I can definitely say it came with the newest update.

But we cannot do this in production, because of the security implications…

Both code snippets works fine at my site and the description/bio field is saved.

@missveronicatv Can I maybe do more debugging on my side? Replace a certain class or something with something that ,,talks more”?

Yes, you can try to remove the User Role dropdown from first column.

One thing I can imagine is different on many websites is the URL-Structure. I am using the page ids.

Install info is OK, you can edit and remove all now.

@missveronicatv I now found something:

If I remove the bio from the header, via the plugin options, and then add a bio field manually to my form, then it is saving.

Of course, that does not look as good in the frontend…

Can you make the next conflict test:
1. Install a pre-release version or add the code snippet from the previous @missveronicatv reply. You may add var_dump($cf_metakeys); before return $cf_metakeys; to make sure that you have ‘description’ key there.
2. Create a new UM Form with a “Profile” type.
3. Please make sure that this option is set to “Yes” https://imgur.com/wOx9yrA and that you don’t have a Biography field inside the form builder.
4. Replace the old shortcode (e.g. [ultimatemember form_id=”7″]) to the new one https://imgur.com/9eQLeHc
5. Then try to submit this form by the end user. I hope that the profile description will be changed.
6. Make sure that there aren’t any active 3rd-party cache plugins and user cache is empty https://imgur.com/XY8tcwI

@nsinelnikov Okay, thanks to your last message I think I found a (strange) solution.

If I just enable the custom settings and set the mentioned option to yes and save, it works again. BUT then my custom CSS does not apply anymore. (I guess the custom user settings change some things) But strangely, afterards, when I disable the custom settings again, the page looks exactly like before AND the BIO saving works again! It seems like you have to enable this option once, then you can disable the custom options again alltogether. This night I am going to try this on my production environment…
