    Hi everybody,

First post on this site so I hope somebody might be able to help me with this.
Just for a little background I’m relatively new to WordPress I’ve been asked by someone who has a WP site to help them out a bit.

I recently had a client of mine whose site got infected and although I don’t know much about WordPress, I managed to clean the infections but don’t want to go through it again, so decided on the next WordPress problem that I had I would mention to the site owner that they need to have some form of security in place.

So, after some looking around at software like Wordfence, Securi etc found two that seemed to be good value and had good reviews when was Bulletproof and the other which I decided on is Security Ninja.

From what I’ve seen of it I will get him to purchase a years’ worth of Security Ninja plug in tomorrow but in the meantime, I have a bit of a problem.

The previous site designer, he still does the designing, wasn’t really particularly good at the underlying bits and pieces of WordPress for example they left the e-mail address as [email protected] so when I installed Security Ninja, it sent an activation code to this email address, and I don’t know how to get it to resend to my address which I have changed it to.

    This is what I get

“Thanks! You should receive an activation email for Security Ninja to your mailbox at [email protected]. Please make sure you click the activation button in that email to complete the install.”

If anybody can help, I would be grateful I have dug around and done a few searches particularly in this forum but can’t find anything that could help me so if anybody can thank you ??

    Hello @amarkit

Thank you for writing to us. Happy you got your client website cleaned up.

It sounds like your account when you logged in has that email.

You should be able to go edit your profile and change the email? Once that is done you should be able to deactivate/reactivate the plugin and the validation email should now be sent to your changed email address.

Need more help? Feel free to contact us directly via our website.

    Stay safe and take care.

    Hello @amarkit

I googled that topic title, and it seems to be related to BulletProof Security, I suspect you have that plugin activated as well.

The link is here for more details and help from that plugin developer: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/file-owner-user-id-mismatch-notice/

Sorry tha previous message happened because I accidentally activated it but I edited it out of the message and uninstalled Bulletproof so please ignore my last message

But I still get no email sent to my address – should I ???

Make sure you found all the hackers files and code. It is worth spending the time to thoroughly go through the entire hosting account because if you miss any hacker files that auto-create new hacker files with a simple GET Request then you will have to clean up the hosting account all over again. I put together some easy hack cleanup steps here > https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/topic/wordpress-hacked-wordpress-hack-cleanup-wordpress-hack-repair/

    Good luck

That is a good suggestion @aitpro

Also try to figure out how you got infected in the first place and make sure to patch that hole. It is not always possible to discover with certainty how you got infected, but worth researching along with checking @aitpro’s excellent writeup.
