Bizarre loss of work across multiple websites

Hello – I have seen across multiple WordPress websites under my care, that recently if I tab away from a saved or updated page or post, (tab away in the browser) then come back to my tab where the WordPress editor is sitting, I’m seeing that at some point, the browser appears to have reloaded what is in cache, which is usually the page as it was before my last round of changes. If you don’t catch the mistake, and impulsively click Update when planning on leaving a WP editor page (guilty!) you will overwrite your previous work.

This has happened in Chrome and in Safari for Mac across multiple websites in the last month or so. I’m catching it once per day, and luckily have avoided several near disasters now that I’m watching for it.

Has anyone else seen this type of thing recently? I realize it seems like a browser cache behavior problem, and it could be my server somehow too, but in any case, I’m seeing it regularly enough that I wanted to commiserate. My server provider is investigating too. Any idea what’s going on here?
