@rgbadmin – Can you provide any specific links to where this is happening?

@rgbadmin – I’m not seeing anything specifically on that page … where exactly is the issue with your GIF images happening at?

    Thanks!

All the GIFs are showing a black background. None of the images should have a black background, only white. Please see image below for reference. The red arrows point at the transparent GIFs

@rgbadmin – Are you resizing the GIF images with the black background when you upload them or making any other adjustments to those images within NextGEN Gallery?

No, I just uploaded them via FTP and them imported them from the plugin import option.

The are transparent gifs. There should be no black background anywhere

@rgbadmin – Have you tried uploading the images directly into NextGEN Gallery?

I just did a test and nothing. See link below. I don’t understand

After reading this I tested again and noticed that it only happens when I use the thumbnail template. Do you have an idea of what is causing this and what can I do to fix it.

@rgbadmin – The “thumbnail” template is only included for a reference when creating NextGEN Legacy style custom templates … I would recommend using the default (read: blank) template to see if the issue persists.

I had a similar experience, maybe this can shed some light on the problem:

Everytime I upload a GIF to WordPress (using the regular WordPress Media Library, NOT NEXTGEN!), only the original size image is right, all the other (auto-generated) sizes have black backgrounds.

I had to manually create different sizes for the images (thumbnails, etc.) and upload them separately.

I have no idea which libraries or processes are involved, but maybe it’s the .gif resizing that produces this error (both in NextGEN and the regular media library)?

@gutogarrote – Most GIF re-sizing events will change the background to black (sometimes white?) when you are re-sizing a GIF because we use JPG for the resized image (which does not support a transparent background as is).
