Add this code in style.css of the theme.

#footer-widgets {
    background-color: #ffffff !important;
}

Hey, skorrow, to remove that black bar at the bottom of your page you need to go into your customizer settings and then disable the footer widgets:

Please place this code in the .css file

#footer-inner #footer-widgets {
    background-color: #ffffff !important;
}
