Black bar through slideshow

    The slideshow on my website has a black bar through it right about where “Church News” would be if I had that in place. I have my homepage set to “show latest posts”–the bar went away when I set it to a static page, but the static page doesn’t work for my purposes. Is there a setting I should be turning off somewhere?

    Hi,

    That’s the section where widgets should be displayed, like in the demo.
    Not having widgets there doesn’t make the area automatically disappear.

    But the area did disappear when I changed the homepage to a static page. It’s only when I’m using it as a “blog” setting that the black bar shows up.

    If you use a static page as the homepage then a different page template is used, so obviously it looks different (it looks like the rest of static pages).
    If you display “Your latest posts” then the theme will expect a result similar to our live demo.
