• Most sites I have this set to whitelist only, however on a multi-site install with buddypress I instead have it set to blacklist – with a few country codes in the next line. It works fine for a while – and then one day is automatically changes itself to whitelist and changes the countries in the list.

This has happened several times – not sure if this is related to the “disable xmlrpc” plugin, or something else.

If your email is the same I can send a link with a video of screen showing it locking me out, and going into the backend and plugins and such.

Maybe this happens with ip geo block checks for updates? or when wordpress checks for updates and I have xmlrpc blocked? Could be something else.

    Hi @djsteveb,

Sorry about this issue and thanks for reporting.

    Here is my guess.

    This could be happened when:

    • Country code of your server’s IP address IS NOT in the whitelist or IS in the blacklist.
    • Auto updating (once a month)” is on and update process is kicked by your server itself.

And this issue would be also related to the feature of “automatic rescue at emergency” when this plugin is forcibly deleted.

So until I improve this feature, please uncheck “Auto updating (once a month)” in “Local database settings” section. In this case, you can update database manually with “Download now” button.

Still, yet you would have the same issue or your case doesn’t fit the above, please let me know again.

    Thanks.
