• Hey everybody,

So the other day a large portion of my site, https://www.megamace.com, went missing. no error code, just blank pages. Along with this the admin panel too. The login page shows up, but after that it’s all blank.

I figured out that if I added a “/” the pages would load. So I coded it into the generative links.

However, this did not solve the missing admin panel.

Prior to the site going down I was using it and posting things. Later in the day it went missing. I am about 98% sure I changed nothing in the code when working on it prior, unless I deleted something by accident.

I tried removing Blank Space at the end of documents. I tried renaming plugin folders. I tried copying original wp-admin and wp-includes folder. Nothing helped.

I contacted hosting people and am waiting a reply.

Just thought I’d check with the trusty WordPress forums and see if you had any insight.

    thank you,

    Colin

Try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can affect the admin panel).

    Tried both of these things.

    Nothing helped.

In fact more of my site is missing again. But I think this is because the Hosting People are trying to help.

    Anyone else?

    Have you tried just reinstalling?

How do you reinstall without losing vital information?

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download.

Your content and settings will be safe in the database.

    Nope doesn’t help.

    Anything else?

Install a new copy of WordPress in a new directory (new directory, new files, new database) and see if you have the same problem.

    nothing.

loaded clean copy of wordpress to megamace.com/wp-help/ and still getting Not Found error.

I’ve contacted the hosting people and it seems like the problem has only gotten worse.

it’s weird because we have two other wordpress sites hosted on the same account and they are fine.

    Any other suggestions.

    Thanks.

If a fresh copy of WordPress is producing the same error, there’s really nothing we can do. The problem must be on the server end.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking.

Of course now they are not responding to me.

Thank you James and Marty for your help.
