Blank Black Screen

I am using the newest version of WordPress, NextGen Gallery and NextGen Plus. I cannot get this thing working for the life of me.
When I click on a photo, I get the little dots whirling in a circle and then it just turns into a blank black page. Every now and again it seems to work but then the photo is full screen regardless of what I do with the size settings.
I tried turning off all plugins, I switched to a few different basic themes, it doesn’t make any difference. It’s just not working properly.
Also? It is extremely annoying that you can’t properly search just this support forum (rather you are stuck searching the entire plugin site) for an issue before posting. You guys really need to get your support on your website and not rely on here.
If someone could help me out that would be great. I’m pretty much at my wits end after fussing with it all afternoon.
