Hello everyone, i apologize for this if it is vague but i am very confused and need help.

i am new to wordpress and i am having issues creating a website. whenever i choose a new theme and click to preview the page it comes up blank (white page)for the .com address. however the .com/wp-admin shows what i would expect/want to appear normally to anyone viewwing the page. this is happening to almost every theme i download and install.

many thanks – i am running WordPress 3.5.2. as well if that helps

has anyone got any ideas why this occurring. i cannot view this webpage at all unless i am in the .com/wp-admin view. i need to get this done and view-able as soon as possible.

    thankyou

Your site does not seem to be working at all. Try using FTP access to rename the plugin’s folder to pluginsHOLD and also rename the current theme so that WP will use the default theme. See if that lets you login and use the site.

    Hi WPyogi,

I can login and access the site fine – i can apply themes and view them all if i add /wp-admin on to my url. for example:

octagontelecom.com will display a blank screen whereas
octagontelecom.com/wp-admin shows me the theme i have applied.

this is where my problem lies- i want to know why it shows up with the extension /wp-admin but not on the live site.

    many thanks

Hello everyone i managed to fix the problem. i basically went back to my hosting website and reinstalled wordpress, overwriting everything and starting form scratch. may seem long but for anyone who is in the same position i spent days figuring this out. through that time however i learnt alot on these forums and through trial and error on the functionality and useful techniques in wordpress.

many thanks for anyone who tried to help and i hope if you have this problem you sort it out too!
