I see a lot of people have this problem but I’ve yet to find a solution and hope someone has been able to come up with one.

I recently switched my wordpress.com blog to www.ads-software.com. At first, everything seemed fine – I could post and people could comment. Now, no one can comment. They can fill in the comment form but when they submit, they are taken to a blank page and their comment never shows up on my posts. This is where they’re taken when they try to submit a comment –

I deactivated all of my plugins but that didn’t help. I have since reactivated them. Beyond that, I am tech-ignorant. I am able to blog and navigate the internet but I am not tech savvy in any way. If someone knows how a person like me can repair this glitch, please let me know.

My blog is located here… https://deboradale.com/blog1

Thank you to anyone who tries to help!

  • See if any of the suggestions here help, starting with the least drastic of course.

I’d suggest testing another theme, if you’re sure disabling the plugins had no effect.

Thank you. I will look at those suggestions.

About testing another theme… this one was working fine until recently but I have since noticed there is an upgrade for it. I will do that as well.

The suggestions on that thread are too far beyond my understanding.

Considering how widespread this issue is – there are so many threads about it – couldn’t it be a glitch within the WordPress system that WordPress can somehow correct?

Have had the same thing before myself, and i’m pretty sure it was down to the theme or plugin for me. I don’t think this is a WordPress issue personally.

Did you test another theme? It only need be for a couple of minutes, simply to confirm if it helps. If it turns out the problem is the theme, we can move on and troubleshoot the issue, i’m not going to ask you to give up the theme, just asking that you test another to confirm if the problem still occurs.

I tried three different themes – Connections Reloaded, Close to Attraction and Lunatic Fringe but had the same issue with each and am now back to my original theme, Aesthete.

I contacted the creator of Aesthete and, in case it helps, this is what he had to say…

“This is not “programming error”, this is the web server response “error 405 – method not allowed”. The comment form uses POST method. So I suppose that your hosting provider does not allow the method. Try talking to your hoster.”

I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know what that means.

well, you could fire off an email to your host describing your problem, and including that exact message from the theme creator..they’ll know what it means

I did exactly that and they just replied saying they’d experienced some technical difficulties that were now fixed. I checked and, so far, my comment option is working again. I wonder if everyone else with this issue needs to contact their host. ???

Thank you RVoodoo and t31os_ for replying to my pleas for help.

If it’s a 405 response coming back from the comment submissions, then yes that’s most certainly a host issue, glad to hear you’ve got your issue resolved… ??
