• 2 sites w similar configuration, same problem
    WP 4.0.1
    Genesis Agency Theme

As of 12/24/2014, front-end site displays blank if not also logged in as admin in same browser.
If logged in as admin, front-end site displays OK.

Host indicated it was a size issue, but problem persisted after cleaning up hosting files.

Deactivating HyperCache allowed front-end site to display without being logged into Admin.
Upgrading HyperCache to 3.1.3 & reactivated: problem persisted on front end when not logged in.
    Deactivated HyperCache: problem fixed.
Reactivated & Clean Whole Cache: problem fixed.

Not reassuring to have front-end site go down due to plugin update… (possibly a combination of space issue + upgrade.)

Posting in case others may have this issue.

I’m updating this since, on further reflection, it’s unlikely the problem was with the upgrade.

The problem appears to be the combination of HyperCache reaction to running out of space & not being able to write temp files. For some reason the front-end site became unavailable even after HyperCache could write temp files again.

Hi CarolKn are you saying that you ran out of disk space in your WordPress installation?

Not specifically wordpress (it was account-wide and not related to this site specifically), but the logs indicate HyperCache couldn’t write:

[Sun Dec 28 04:02:57 2014] [warn] [client NNN.NNN.NN.NNN] mod_fcgid: stderr: PHP Warning: file_put_contents(): Only 0 of 12834 bytes written, possibly out of free disk space in /var/www/vhosts/NNNNNNNNN.com/NNNNNNN.com/wp-content/plugins/hyper-cache/plugin.php on line 589
