Blank installation page

Hey guys, I am trying to install wordpress on my home computer which I am using as a server.

I installed apache and localhost works
I installed php and have tested some files with it and they work
I also installed mysql and created some tables

So I downloaded wordpress, unzipped it, copied the wordpress directory into htdocs, and edited my config file

-user:root
-pswd: the same one I used to log into mysql to edit databases
-I made a database called wordpress_db to use with wordpress and put that in the config file too

When I go to https://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php I just get a blank page. Does anyone know what is wrong?
