Blank lines at end of posts

  • I’ve noticed that the editor is adding blank lines to the end of my posts, as in a line with   in it in text mode. Each time I open a post to edit, another line with   gets added. This is more of an annoyance than anything else, since I can go into text mode, delete all of the extra &nabsp; lines, and then save. But it would be nice not to need to do that. I use Classic Editor. I’m a bit of a troglodyte in that matter, since I am not willing to go through the learning curve to figure out how to use the default editor. (In other words, asking me to switch is not an option.)

  • I cannot reproduce the behaviour in my case. My guess is that the theme you use or a plugin is responsible for it. Try changing the theme to a classic standard theme like TwentyTwentyOne. If this does not solve the problem, deactivate all plug-ins.

    I’ve been able to reproduce the problem on more than one site, with different themes. But here’s something that might be important for reproducing the problem. Just about all of the posts on one of my sites end with unordered lists. These extra lines are being added after the unordered lists.

    I was just able to duplicate the problem on another site. It looks like it has something to do with moving between the Visual tab and the Text tab. So the UL thought may be a red herring. I use Classic Editor on all of my sites.

    I still cannot comprehend this even with list points. Could you describe your suspicion with the visual and text tab in more detail? How do you proceed exactly? Please describe each individual step.

    I’ve experienced this problem across multiple sites for several months now. Only happens when using Classic Editor and where the post/page Visual tab is used. Does not happen if Text tab is used.
