Blank page first step

  • I just downloaded and installed WordPress 2.3.2. Took me a long while because I’m not yet familiar with my Linux server (it was setup for me by a friend). But I got all the way to pressing the install WordPress button. But then I get a blank page when I should get step 1. So whent back and once again pressed the Install wordpress button, but the same problem. Now I even the install.php page is blank!

    Anybody?

    Does this Linux box have PHP installed? What version of PHP, if any, is installed?

    Does this Linux box have MySQL installed? What version of MySQL, if any, is installed?

    In other words, does this Linux box meet the requirements for hosting a WordPress blog?

    Create a file, name it whatever you like, as long as it ends in .php .. ie name it nadine.php ..

    Put this inside of it >

    <?php phpinfo(); ?>

    upload it to your web space, and bring the page up in your browser:

    https://www.nadines-domain.com/nadine.php

    Is there stuff in it? Or what?

    I do have PHP en MySQL and they both meet the requirements.

    When I create the file, it gives me a whole bunch of information I didnt know you could get.

    Does this information look like code? Do you have a link?

    If by “my Linux server” you mean a server on your own machine, administered by you… NO, we can not help. We do not support server setup issues. Try in a specialized forum.

    If the server is set up correctly, we can help with WP.

    Problem is I don’t know where the problem lies. Maybe it is my server, maybe not. That’s why I am here, to find some help and answers.
