Blank page on local host after new install

  • As I tried to say in my first post on this topic, I am having an issue with my new install of WordPress. I am hosting the site myself on WHS 2011 running IIS 7.5. The wordpress install is version 3.3.1 installed via the Web Platform Installer.

    database is MySQL ver 5.1
    PHP version 5.3.10

    After completing the install process in WPI I attempt to open the the site and get a blank page. If I try to access the site from any other computer I get an error 500.

    My first question is should I try to perform a manual install rather then using the WPI interface, or should it have worked and if it should have worked what am I missing that is giving me a blank page on the local host.

    For additional clarification I am running 2 phpBB3 forum sites on this server also using the same mySQL and php installs.
