    Hi team,
I’m using the free version to test it before purchasing the pro version. I use Elementor and I wanted to customize the availability search page with Elementor to add some style elements. Unfortunately, the availability search results page (“Search Availability”) [[vikbooking category_id=”” view=”vikbooking” lang=”it-IT”]] only works with the shortcode inserted in the WordPress editor, but not if I modify the page with Elementor; it remains blank. However, I’ve managed to modify other pages like the room list or specific room search using Elementor combined with CSS. I don’t understand what the issue might be. Can you help me out? Thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for contacting us. The Shortcode you are trying to publish is the “Search Form” page of VikBooking. We understand you are using Elementor as page builder plugin, and the live-reload feature of the Shortcodes when editing a page is only available with Gutenberg (the native WordPress page editor/builder).

Also, if you are looking to publish a search form to start the booking process in the home page of your website, then we suggest using the “Search Form” widget/block rather than the Shortcode. This is because Shortcodes should not be used in the home page of your website, or the URL routing functions will not be able to properly route the URLs for the booking process. Shortcodes can be used on any page of your website except the home page. Instead, widgets/blocks are designed exactly to be used in the home page or on any specific section/content of your website pages.

Moreover, with your page builder plugin you will not be able to actually customize the contents generated by our plugin. That’s actually because a Shortcode will render the full HTML and JavaScript source code for that specific type of page, and the whole layout will be styled by the default CSS rules available in VikBooking.

In order to customize the layout of a specific page or section (Shortcode or Widget/Block) you should either create an override through the apposite “Overrides Manager” tool available in the “Global – Configuration” page of the wp-admin section of VikBooking (this is for advanced modifications only as you would work on the source code of the template file for that exact type of page), or you can work on the apposite CSS file for custom rules, which is still available in the Configuration page of VikBooking.

We invite you to get in touch with our team through our website should you have any technical questions.

    Thank you,
    The VikWP Team
