Blank screen after clicking on a Category

Hi there, I suspect that you have customized the permalink for the categories, and it is creating a conflict between your category permalink structure, https://kabayantech.com/startups/, and static pages, which generally have this same structure. The software is looking for a static page called Startups.

Go in and delete what you added at Settings > Permalinks > Optional > Category base and save and the issue should go away. If you wish to have custom category permalinks, perhaps consider something like https://kabayantech.com/topics/…

thank you for the reply.

unfortunately, I do not have any thing in the “Optional” section of permalinks settings.

I used Yoast, since the plugin has an option to remove or customize your permalinks. this used to work for me but it just starting displaying blank page when clicking Category link at the bottom of the article.

what’s strange is that the TAGS works, its just the CATEGORY links that has this problem.

i even went on to reinstall wordpress and all my plugins.

Hmmm, disable Yoast and see what happens. If the issue corrects itself, then it is either a setting in Yoast, or an issue with the plugin itself. Try disabling and let me know how things go.

Additionally, if the above doesn’t fix it, disable all plugins and check your site, then enable Yoast and see if things work. If it does, then enable on each plugin one at a time and check your site. It may be a plugin conflict.

Thanks for the help.

I uninstalled Yoast and then went ahead and disable all plugins.. but the problem still persists.

Another thing that I tried is creating a new .htaccess file and also reinstalled or uploaded the core files of wordpress.

Still the problem happens.

The thing that boggles me is that this only happens with this particular theme and when I switch to my old theme, it does not have this problem.

I’ll try to reinstall to a fresh copy of the theme and see if that works.

I’m back!

The problem appears to have been fixed when I reinstalled or uploaded the core files of wordpress.

What I did is I deleted both the wp-admin and wp-includes folder from my webhost, then upload a fresh copy of the folder from the wp installation file. I download a new copy of wp installation file from www.ads-software.com.
