• Hi guys,

I had a site completely functional, then tried to log into it a few months later, and I get a blank screen on the wp-login.php and wp-admin.php pages, so can’t log in. The main page is still running, it’s just that I can’t log in to edit it.

I’ve enabled debugging and the only php error noted is a php notice:
[15-May-2014 16:01:26] PHP Notice: wp_deregister_script was called incorrectly. Scripts and styles should not be registered or enqueued until the wp_enqueue_scripts, admin_enqueue_scripts, or init hooks. Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 3.3.) in /home/a4603785/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2959

I’ve tried a number of things gleaned from searching the web for solutions:
    < renamed the plugins folder
< rename theme folder (instead of defaulting theme this makes main page blank too)
< overwriting the whole ftp folder with a backup from when it was working

I’ve spent a day trying to figure this out, and I’m losing hope of being able to fix this without some help…

    Thanks for reading!

I’ve just manually updated the core files and that made no affect.

Before the “blank page” did you perform any WordPress or plugin or theme upgrade?

Such behaviour usually means that either one of the plugins or the entire theme is not entirely compatible with the version of WordPress used…

Thanks for the reply. No, I did nothing manually. If anything updated it has done it automatically. I can’t revert the theme to default to check if that is the reason as when I rename the theme the main page just becomes a white screen..
