I’ve read other posts for getting the blank page at install step. This is one of many blogs on my dedicated server, so it’s not a server setting. Any assistance would be most appreciated.

  • Blank screen in install:
Typically, a blank screen during install means you didn’t get a complete and intact set of WordPress files uploaded to your host. I’d consider downloading a fresh copy of WordPress from the Download tab at the top of this page, then use something like 7-Zip to extract the files. Then reupload the files to your host. Review Uploading WordPress to a remote host and make sure you are using ASCII transfer mode in your FTP client.

If you have an .htaccess file, that too could be causing the problem–rename that if necessary.

Follow-up: it wasn’t a server issue, it was my choice of software. In the past few years, I’ve used GoLive and recently switched to DW. My first upload was with DW. My second test was with Transmit. But underlying was that I had renamed wordpress folder to ‘blog’ in DW and it didn’t behave as expected. I had always done that before in GL. … no problem. So, change folder name BEFORE moving to DW… and as a safety precaution, I’ll use Transmit to upload. Solution courtesy of hosting guru.
