• I installed this for the image CDN but quickly uninstalled after seeing all the unnecessary features JetPack adds (not to mention, the plugin with only six modules enabled still increased my load time by 3-4 seconds). Although you can disable the features, it still adds considerable bloat to the back end: I’m aware the developers say they aren’t loaded to the front end, but it still is additional code.

The features which are switched off definitely won’t add load to the front end, because they do not load if they’re off. I promise we aren’t lying about that, it’s literally how it’s designed. ??

Almost all of Jetpack’s features do make use of heavy processing power (Photon the image CDN, related posts indexing), heavy database usage (stats), or require connections to third-party systems that can be very complicated to setup by yourself (Publicize’s automated sharing to social networks, email subscriptions, etc). But, we take care of that all on WordPress.com’s server cluster so your hosting provider doesn’t suspend you for using excessive resources.

In that sense, one of the main goals of Jetpack is to use _less_ overall resources than running the same features yourself would.

We’d definitely love to get to the bottom of any excess resource usage on your site. If you’re interested too, please do let us know via https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support
