I read the article by Martin Aranovitch that posted on 11.16.20 respective to the “custom sidebars” plugin riding into the sunset once WP v5.7 is launched. Truly sorry to read it but I completely understand.

Switching to the legacy widgets screen is not a viable option – adding remove_theme_support( ‘widgets-block-editor’ ) in your theme’s functions.php file. I use the Ultra Premium theme by Puro.

My site uses “custom sidebars” on nearly all of its 79 pages. It is my understanding WP v5.7 will eliminate all “custom sidebars and footer info” – is that correct?

Is it possible to save/retain the current look and structure of my site – right sidebars and footer – with the “block-based widget screen” launched in WP v5.7? Does this mean I will need to create sidebars and footer info from scratch w/ the new “block-based widget screen”?

Seeking your recommendations to salvage the current appearance of my site absent re-inventing sidebars and footer info. A lot of time/work will go in the toilet when “custom sidebars” and the “footer” info disappear w/ WP v5.7.

Please find my site here –> https://pmsynergy.com/.

I respectfully request your expertise b/c I am not a programmer or proficient back-end guy.

    Hi,
Unfortunately, we can’t answer those questions because WP v5.7 is not out yet and we don’t know exactly how the transition to the new system will be handled. Once it’s out we’ll do our best to adjust the plugin to handle all sites as they were before and not break anything.

I’m in a similar situation to Jeff; I rely heavily on the plugin. I appreciate you’re in a difficult position not of your choosing. Are you talking to WordPress about the implications on existing sites of v5.7? It seems to me that users in our situation (200K+?) should not upgrade to v5.7 until we know what’s happening.
