We have a client where we have been using your free version of this plugin for over a year. The client has been noticing on almost all past entries where they are using this block, it no longer expands for the front end user. When we go to edit the entry using this, we get this error: https://share.zight.com/qGub2XYv

It is only when we recover and resave each entry will the accordions work on the front end.

Are you able to assist in a few things:

    1. Determine why these blocks are getting this error? ( I can provide an environment for you to review as needed)
    2. Is there a fix for this outside of recovering each block? Again, this client uses this block heavily and we’d rather not have to go through near 100+ entries to fix this.
    3. A future fix to where the blade will still expand and work for a front end user even if the block needs recovering?

    Hello,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We understand how important it is for your client to have a seamless experience with our Advanced Accordion Block plugin.

The error you’re encountering appears to be related to the block recovery feature in WordPress. Clicking the “Attempt Block Recovery” button should typically resolve the issue and restore the block’s functionality on the front end.

We understand that manually recovering each block for over 100 entries can be time-consuming. While our plugin does not currently support automatic recovery for all blocks, you may explore third-party plugins or online resources for potential solutions to automate this process, as the attempt to recover error message is showing for most of the Gutenberg blocks.

If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Best regards,
    Sajjad

Not quite the response I was hoping. To further ask…why does the functionality of the accordion blade cease to work on the front end? This should be something you need to fix, right…?

Another thing we noticed is that it’s only happening to us when we’re signed in as WordPress admins. If I open a “broken” page in incognito/private/Guest mode, the blades on the front end to the end user does still expand.

Could there be something conflicting with your accordion blocks plugin and the extra admin navigation bar along the top of the site?

The issue is specific to the WordPress admin view and does not affect the front-end display for end users. The blocks should function properly for users visiting the site, even if the “Attempt Block Recovery” message appears in the editor.

The message you’re seeing is typically triggered When users click to edit a page and encounter this message, they can click the “Attempt Block Recovery” button, and the error is gone from the editor.

We will work on a fix to ensure that the “recovery” message does not appear in the editor for users.

    Hello

Chipping in on this thread to say I’m seeing the “Attempt Block Recovery” notification in the admin pages too. When this shows up the accordions stop working on the front end until the cache has been cleared.

Here’s an example of it working, but behind the scenes most of the blocks are displaying the error message:

Would be great if could find a fix for this as it’s an otherwise excellent plugin which I’d like to use (and upgrade) on other sites.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi @richardx

We’re actively working on finding additional solutions to resolve this issue. For now, please click the “Attempt Block Recovery” button to manually fix the problem.

    Thank you.

I am having this issue on a website, but the “attempt block recovery” button does not work – it wipes out all of the content and starts over with a blank accordion. How can we fix this issue without losing all of our content?

I should also note that twice before we have had to manually recover all of the accordion blocks across the website, usually after a WordPress update. This creates a great deal of manual work for us on a regular basis at this point, and makes us pretty hesitant to continue to use this plug-in.

I would like to chime in here: the advanced accordion block is not working. It is causing the front end and the backend to malfunction. I would like to continue using it but the “Attempt Block Recovery” is not working any longer. Can you please let us know if there is a fix immediately available? If there is not, then we will have to find a solution other than Advanced Accordion Block. Please let me know ASAP!

    Hi @jillyk ,

Thank you for reaching out. The plugin is working fine on our end. Could you please try deactivating and reactivating the plugin, or switching to a different theme to see if the issue persists? This might help identify any potential conflicts.

Please let us know if this helps!

    Thanks & regards

I will add that this is connected in some way to the most recent update. I spun up a Local site using a back-up and this issue did not exist, but it did after I updated the plug-in to 4.7.2.

Is there a way for us to roll back to 4.7.1?

I am also getting the “This block contains unexpected or invalid content.” and when clicking the “Attempt Block Recovery” button it deletes all of the content and starts over with a blank accordion.

The accordions still work as expected on the front end but on the back end edit this is happening to all accordions on the entire site. .

    Hello,

We are currently working on a fix, and this issue will be resolved as soon as possible. We will release a new version of the plugin addressing this problem. Once the update is available, you can update the plugin, and the issue should be resolved.

Thanks for updating us all @codersajjad!

Could you clarify what fixes will be addressed in your next update release? Looking over the several comments from other members, it seems we are all encountering slightly different issues with the plugin. (e.g. when we attempt recovery, we don’t lose content like @lukermiller said. And the front end blades on our site don’t work when the error isn’t fixed)

As @loganjudy mentioned, a rollback to the previous version might be a better option in the interim. Do you have a download link to that version that we can revert to?

    Hi @nauran81 ,

We’re actively working to address the “attempt recovery” issue, and we’ll ensure that the error message is no longer displayed in the upcoming update.

@loganjudy? if you prefer to revert to the previous version, here’s the download link for it: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/advanced-accordion-block.4.7.1.zip
