We need to block fraudulent credit card transactions. We have reCaptcha enabled but it doesn’t stop them. We had over 1,000 attempts last night to process credit cards. Fortunately only 2 were successful. How can we stop this?

Hi @jeff412, thank-you for reaching out.

Although Wordfence works on sites running WooCommerce, and a couple of our features such as 2FA/reCAPTCHA are compatible with its login/registration pages, taking orders and payments are specific to the e-commerce platforms rather than WordPress core.

There are add-ons for WooCommerce I’ve seen such as Anti-Fraud for WooCommerce (and there are likely others both paid and free) that have advanced blocking features and other functionality that focus on the payment/order side. We don’t partner with or endorse any external plugin or solution, I just wanted to provide an example, so I’m sure the wider community may have other recommendations too.

    Thanks,
    Peter.

    Wordfence won’t help you here.

I’d recommend implementing Cloudflare WAF to block out majority of the bots. Turn off guest checkout. Require an account to purchase, making it so they need to verify their email to continue. Switch from charge to authorize.

After that, start looking into plugins to help. In the meantime the steps above should filter out a lot of them.
