• Hi Guys,

In WordPress 5.5, the Gutenberg “Block Navigation” dropdown tool in the page editor’s top toolbar no longer indicates the active selected block.

In WordPress 5.4.2, the currently selected block was prominently highlighted in the Block Navigation tool with a light gray background.

This is critical functionality. Will it be fixed?

    Thanks.

  • Hi @detroitwidget

Thanks for your note. I’m not sure I follow what you’re saying, could you provide a little more detail? A screenshot would be super helpful as well.

I’ll do my best to help. ??

    Hi Animesh,

    To clarify …

In the first screenshot linked below, I’m using WordPress 5.4.2. The “Fran Acadia” Profile Box is the currently selected block in the page editor. That Profile Box is also highlighted in the Block Navigation dropdown tool.

In the second screenshot (beloW), I’m using WordPress 5.5 with the same block selected. As you can see, the selected Profile Box is not highlighted. This UI change makes it very difficult to tell which block is currently selected — Especially when working with many nested blocks on long pages.

    Thanks for helping.

Thank you Sir. I appreciate the help.

    Hi @detroitwidget

You’re very welcome! I sincerely appreciate your understanding in this matter. Please feel welcome to reach out to www.ads-software.com support forums with any questions you may have and we would be more than happy to help. ??

@detroitwidget I should note that the styling changed, though (if you haven’t noticed already).

While the functionality returned in 5.5.1, the current block is indicated by inverting the icon colors (white against black) instead of adding the light gray background behind text. It may become more obvious in a later version.

Thank you so much @sabernhardt. That’s looking perfect and clean. ??

@detroitwidget Please update your WordPress to 5.5.1 and you would be able to see the changes now. ??
