Hi, followed your instructions to add a banner image and text over the top. I have a black box to the right of the image I can’t get rid of. Is it the image size (1024×300) or something else?

    Cheers

Do you have a link to show this, and I will take a quick look?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the link…now I know the problem. Your image (nice photo by the way) is too small. The width of that area is 1600px, so your image should be at least that in width. Height can be almost any height you want.

Also, I noticed your widget has the ! before the title, but the title area is still there. Do you have the Remove Widget Titles plugin installed and activated for this to work?

Cheers. I was certain it was just an image size problem. I don’t have the widget – if I left the text empty what will happen?

You mean the title empty? It should disappear. The idea behind that plugin Remove Widget Titles will allow you to still have a title, but only for the admin side, so that you know what widget is what when managing them.

Thanks. Is there anything I can do about the black box above the banner and below the header?

Cheers and thanks for the support.

That is what the plugin Remove Widget Titles will do. Is that plugin not installed? It will remove the widget title area when you add the ! exclamation mark in front of the widget title…in your case, the title you have “Banner image”.

By the way, were you wanting your page width full width or the 1600px that you had set before?

The plugin worked well! I’m still playing with page width. Is there an advantage of one over the other?

Good to hear (and see) the plugin worked ??
As for width advantage…it’s more of a site owner’s personal preference. For banner images or sliders (if used), you will want to make sure the photos are as wide as the page width is set to. If you use the full width setting (full browser width), then you will want to make sure your photo sizes will accommodate visitors who have large monitors and resolutions. Nowadays, they can get up to 2560px in width now for most, but the common large size is usually 1920px.

Good to know. I’m new to this and facing a steep learning curve.

All of my questions have been answered. Thanks for all of your help.

    You’re very welcome.
As you setup your site with this theme, follow the setup tutorials on my site for it and should you have additional questions, I’m here to help you through it. As for a steep learning curve, take things nice and slow and you should be fine…a big coffee helps too ??

I’m assuming this topic can be closed, so I will close it. If you have any new questions, create a new topic and I will be happy to follow up.

    Cheers!
