• I am using the WordPress Password plugin to keep the blog section of my website private. But I’m noticing when I put certain keywords into a Google search, individual posts from the blog are showing up in the search results.

How can I block the entire blog section of my website – or individual post pages – from showing up in a Google search?

    Thanks!

  • well, I do know you can use a robots.txt file

However, that isn’t my area, but I’m sure a google search can help you set up your file

Have you set your blog to block search engines?

Dashboard >> Settings >> Privacy >> I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors – check this box.

This will cause WordPress to generate a virtual robots.txt file to block search engines.

Note – not all search engines are well behaved – some will ignore your robots.txt file.

EDIT: You have NO robots.txt file so your blog is wide open: https://ismyblogworking.com/www.clipnyc.com

    Ok, I’m working on a robots.txt file.

In the meantime, any thoughts on how I can password protect my blog archives? Right now I think that my WordPress Password plugin is preventing people from accessing the blog from within the site, but it isn’t preventing people from accessing archive files by clicking on the link in Google.
