Block Slider block no longer available in Gutenberg

    I have just realized that all the Block Slider blocks I created before no longer work anymore (in posts created with Gutenberg). When I tried to edit the post, it showed “Your site doesn’t include support for the “cwp/block-slider” block…” When I tried to add a new block, “Block Slider” is no longer one of the available block types. My WP version is 6.0 and Block Slider plugin version is 2.1.4. Has the plugin had drastic changes? Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

    If you’ve updated from block slider v1.x.x to 2.x.x, your old sliders may not work as a result of a complete rewrite of the plugin using the latest Gutenberg API changes and a change in how you create sliders using Block Slider. This was mentioned in the changelog.

    You may go back to the older version or recreate your sliders with the new version.

    Sorry for the inconvenience but we came a long way since Gutenberg launched and as this plugin first launch in the initial days of Gutenberg this change this time was necessary to make sure we are future-proof.

    Thank you for your quick response. I ended up installing an old backup of version 1.0.9. I changed its version number to 9.0.9 so it won’t get auto-updated. The reason I still prefer the 1.x.x version is because it allows me to create the slider right in my post, mixed with other content, rather than creating the slider in a duplicate slider-type post. Sometimes I have multiple sliders in the same post and it’s better to manage them in the same place. (I primarily use sliders as step-by-step tutorials.) Perhaps there are other users in the same boat. I suggest forking the 1.x.x version as a separate plugin because its functionality is so unique and there are really no other plugins that are like it. Thanks!
