• I’m using this plugin on a client’s site and we were running some final tests before launching. We noticed that all of the comments we were trying to put in were being blocked. I unchecked the Spam Prevention – Block Spambots From Posting Comments: setting and now comments are coming through. Instead it’s redirecting back to local / https://127.0.0.1.

Why is this setting blocking all comments? Isn’t it supposed to only block comments from non-human users?

Please respond – as we’d like to launch very soon

Hi hortons-art can you run a test. Deactivate all your other plugins and test the comments again. If that works then you know there is a conflict with a plugin.

    In regards to the following…

That is very strange, which confirms that you might have a conflict with a plugin as mentioned above.

Let me know how you go.

I deactivated all plugins except All In One, and the problem still exists. All attempted comments were redirected to local. If I uncheck the setting comments come through as expected.

If I have the setting checked all attempted comments redirect to local. I’m wondering if it’s a weird .htaccess rule that’s being written?

Okay, try the following. Test one of WordPress default themes like Twenty Thirteen or so and at the same time disable all other plugins except this one.

I just tested this as well with no change in results.

Okay you might have to deactivate this feature for now if it is causing problems with your current set up. Speak to your server administrator and see if they can check their current settings. There might be something in their end causing this.

Hi, just remembered. Have you enabled debug mode to see if anything is displayed?

    Thread Starter hortons-art

    (@hortons-art)

Yep. I’ve tested this on 2 development sites as well, all with debug mode enabled. There are no errors being reported.

This is very strange, everything works except this feature. The only thing that is left to do is to totally removed and delete this plugin and reinstall it again. Follow these instructions.

When you install it again don’t enable any feature in the plugin except this one that is causing problems.

I am curious to see what happens.

I’ve followed your instructions and have the same result. I still cannot post a comment with only the Spam Prevention – Block Spambots From Posting Comments: checked. I checked with my server administrator and they can’t seem to find any indication on their end of why this isn’t working either. For now I’ll just have to leave it unchecked.

Thank you for reporting back. One of the plugin developers will look into this issue further.

    Regards

I’m having this same issue. I’ve followed the advice in this thread with the same results.

This may be related to the fact that I’m running my site out of a subdirectory.
    This line in .htaccess:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http(s)?://www\.hostname\.com/wp [NC,OR]

Has “wp” but my none of the referrers will contain “wp”, only https://www.hostname.com.

Hi @jason Butler one of the plugin developers will investigate this further.
