I believed that Blocked IPs will show up in your .htaccess near the top. Check there and see.
If it’s the Blocked from Login, then I dunno…those don’t go in .htaccess.
thanks for that, however I am not a techie as have no idea where to find .htaccess and if I did I am not sure I would know what to do!
I was hoping it was something that could be tweaked in the plugin
Oh and no it is not in blocked from login
thank you anyway for coming back to meHi there
I have the same issue since around the same date. When I go into blocked IP’s I have a blank page.
If I try to manually block an IP and when I try I get this message:
Call to Wordfence API to resolve IPs failed: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status codeThen it says ‘idle’
My site has slowed down and most times, kicks me off with the error :
Error establishing a database connectionCan someone please help, I posted another thread where I had over 9,000 attempts at someone trying to login, which no one has replied to. I am really distressed over this and hope someone will reply.
thank youHi there
well, I still have the same issue, no one seems to reply and it looks like I am not alone with this issue. This issue is sprinkled all around this forum.Does anyone have any answers, can anyone provide some help, or do I just give up?
thanks
know how you feel! I just keep hoping it will return as mysteriously as it went!!
can anybody please help?Good question Ashar, does anyone help? I am baffled why this forum exists, if no one, including the Wordfence guy doesn’t respond!
How do I get someone to respond to this question?
Since the 28th July I have been unable to see my blocked IP’s and am unable to block any ip’s and getting hammered with spam.
Can someone PLEASE help
1) Like many others (I’m guessing), I haven’t had this issue, so I can’t help from experience.
2) This forum exists because all WordPress add-ons have one. Users can visit the forum to share experience. Authors aren’t obligated to use the forums. Most of us are the Wordfence freeloaders with no expectation of free support from Wordfence. Wordfence is in the business of making money by selling enhanced features and support.
Seeing how I have not run across this issue, I have two suggestions:
1) Go to Wordfence options and enable “Delete Wordfence tables and data on deactivation?” Then deactivate and delete the Wordfence plugin. And reinstall.2) It *could* be a conflict with another plugin. Disable all other plugins and see if the problem persists.
As for blocking spam, I use Akismet and it works pretty well…especially against bots.
I also use https://perishablepress.com/wordpress-5g-blacklist/ that also does a good job of blocking bots. You can also try the Bad Behavior plugin.thank you so much sdayman for your response and help. This has been driving me insane.
Do you mind answering one more question please; if I do what you suggest above, does this mean I will also loose the IP’s that I have blocked over the past couple of years? I am assuming that it would.
The problem with this is, when I could see the Blocked IP’s page, I could see hundreds of blocked hits from IP’s that I had blocked over a year ago.
Does this make me vulnerable again?
I understand that I am using the free service but when there is multiple entries about the same issue and one poster in particular actually received a response from the author, her problem wasn’t resolved, yet he hit the resolve button anyway. I am happy to pay for a paid service but I haven’t found a compelling reason to do this with Worfence yet, especially now. I am actually thinking of going over to ithemes,
I do use jetapck/akismet but every day I have to delete spam and now because of the broken feature from Wordfence am unable to block them.
thank you again for taking the time to respondIf you delete and reinstall Wordfence, you will be starting from scratch.
What I’ve found with blocked IPs is that they eventually give up. IPs that I’ve blocked show no hits in x number of days/months. If you really want to keep blocking those IP addresses, you can browse your database with PHPMyAdmin (or whatever tool’s available) and dig through the Wordfence tables and copy them down, then re-enter them later.
You’ll be just as vulnerable as you were the first time around. Considering that Wordfence caught them the first time, that wouldn’t be a big deal. They’ll make their feeble attempt, Wordfence will block it, then blacklist them. No more feeble attempts.
I don’t see a compelling reason to pay for Wordfence. It’s working well for me. I’ve looked at iThemes and it’s a fairly complex setup. I recommend you first try iThemes on a test site and see if you’re comfortable with it before proceeding with your Wordfenced site.
Hi all,
The reason you may not be seeing blocked IP’s in your list of blocked IP’s is because the list grew too large. Please check your web browser’s javascript error console when you try to load that page for any kind of out-of-memory or overflow error. Let me know what you see. I’ll check back tomorrow.
Regards,
Mark.
Hi Mark
thank you for responding. I am not that tech savvy, but with some help from google, I think I have found the errorUncaught RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded
So does this mean that I have blocked too many IP’s.
Although sdayman mentions that deactivating Wordfence may solve the problem, I do in fact have IP’s who have tried continually (250 times for example) of trying to log in 3 months or so after I have blocked them. Now that I can’t see the blocked IP’s, I can’t see who the culprits are anymore. When I try to block spammers, it is not working, as I can’t seem to block IP’s or if I have I can’t see whether it has happened or not.
thanks for responding. ??
Mark, I would also like to add that I am being hammered by the minute from different IP address but all from broad.pt.fj.dynamic.163data.com.cn – I have tried blocking this in advanced options but it doesn’t seem to be working. Is it possible that I can block these?
thanks again
I have two errors both look the same but I am not sure if they have anything to do with it – sorry I am not a techie
‘Consider using ‘dppx’ units, as in CSS ‘dpi’ means dots-per-CSS-inch, not dots-per-physical-inch, so does not correspond to the actual ‘dpi’ of a screen. In media query expression: (min-resolution: 144dpi), (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 1.5)’when I went back into look this one had appeared!!

c rs=AItRSTMl3j-S1r95ZpEXP-jb5PpnEgAfOQ:95′none of this means anything to me I am afraid and am now totally baffled – I do hope you can help
best ashar@ashar neither of those errors are related to this.
@parisadele Thanks, yes that’s the error I think you will see if the list is not generated.
I’m filing a bug on this side to get this fixed. We’re going to simulate it in the lab and come up with a fix.
Regards,
Mark.
