    Hi,

I have the free wordfence at the moment, and i can log in no problem.

On the wordfence dashboard, the top (and only) ip blocked is mine, the one i log in with!

This is a shiny new site, so not got anyone else visiting yet.

The ip that i log in is shown in the dashboard in the successful logins, below the Top blocked ip’s (which shows the same ip).

I have recently installed a plugin called wpsso which gives my pages structured data and i think that Wordfence blocks it from accessing product pages when i am in admin, which is why i think wordfence is blocking the ip.

Is there a way i can get wordfence to ignore my ip please, so that it doesn’t get listed in the Blocked ip area?

    Thanks
    Paul

  • Have you tried putting the WF firewall into learning mode?

I’d add that you could probably, simply, put your IP in the whitelist on the Options page, “Ignore all Rules.” That’s the first thing I do when I’m working on site development.

Hi! I’m the author of WPSSO, and thought I’d give a bit of context to the front-end connection that WPSSO does by default. When a post / page is edited in the back-end, WPSSO connects to the shortlink (as returned by wp_get_shortlink()) and fetches the webpage HTML, then parses the <head> section to check for duplicate meta tags. WPSSO issues a warning if the connection took longer than 3 seconds (the time-out value of many social crawlers), and warns of any duplicate meta tags.

Obviously this shouldn’t trigger a security / firewall type rule, but if it does, please let me know what function / method / action / filter I can call to authenticate the connection beforehand.

Thank you for all that have replied, i have only just seen them!

I didn’t get the email i was expecting when someone posts and i have been busy.

I will try the first two options and i was getting error messages from WPSSO but resolved them when my host disabled open_basedir for me (recommended by a WPSSO support post i read)

Didn’t know about WF Firewall learning mode, and that’s on, plus i have added my IPP to the ‘Ignore’ feature, so thank all three of you for your help in this.

@jsmoriss it rarely happens, but when the firewall blocks some actions as false positive it’s recommended to turn on the learning mode for a couple of days and it will learn to whitelist these actions in the future, for further information you can check “How to use Learning Mode” on our docs site. Thanks for helping out!

@horsetags glad you got it working!
