I would like to get some information regarding how blocking works when logging into a website. For example, today we only entered the password incorrectly once, and the website blocked us.

In this case, does the system also consider if we made an error yesterday? Does this accumulate, and the system blocks the user based on this?

If the system blocked me, why am I able to log in, say, 10 minutes later? Why does it lift the block? Is it because it recognizes that we usually log in from this IP address and correctly?

Could I get more information about the blocking process?

    Hi @szilard21,

Please have a look at the Brute Force Protection and Banned Users Blog post (if not already). In case there are any questions left after reading the Blog post just let us known.

Hi @szilard21, I hope the information provided by @nlpro helped!

To provide a bit of context the behavior you experienced was a Site Lockout which lasts for 15 minutes and will be lifted right after. After reaching the Ban Threshold, that’s when Solid Security permanently bans the IP.

If you still require further assistance, feel free to open a new support topic, and we’d be happy to assist.

    Thank you!
