By default there’s a big “CM Tooltop – Disables” panel in the WordPress editor whenever I edit a post or page.

The problem is that this panel shows up for all users who are able to edit posts/pages. I do not want those users to be able to change how tooltips appear, and many of them may get confused by this as it is a very large panel that appears in a prominent place and makes it harder to see the important panels like Publish.

I know they can hide it, but I don’t want these users to have access to change the settings at all.

Is there any way to block this panel by default for specific user roles?

No, unfortunately there’s no way to specifically control which roles can see this block. That would require custom development probably.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any way to turn the block off completely?

I can see in the file “config.php” there is a setting called ‘cmtt_disable_metabox_all_post_types’ and that has the descriptor of “//show disable metabox for all post types”.

So it seems like the option is in there, but the setting isn’t present on any of the settings screens. Is there a related line in the database I could change the value of perhaps?

You would need to modify the plugin code to do that. There is no quick way to do so
