• I have a php file that I use for privately uploading content to my wordpress site. This plugin has never been a problem but now it blocks access to this file – introducing a breaking change to my site was not appreciated…

    Hi hotbelgo,

I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience. However, I do wish you would have submitted a support request before posting a negative review.

We have put together a Troubleshooting Guide and FAQ’s for users to check when they have issues. There is also Support Request Form for you to contact us if those don’t work.

New anti-spam features recently added to the plugin can be disabled in the settings, and should allow your API to work.

Please submit a support request so we can help you and consider updating this review. If you look at all the 5-star reviews, you will see that when people submit support requests, we always help them right away, and go above and beyond.

I’m frustrated that a plugin update just breaks a working site – that seems like something that should be prevented. Anyway, I am trying to POST to <wordpress>/specialfolder/receive.php and I get back an HTML page about spam blocking, rather than the confirmation information my site used to send. Any ideas how I can change it?

I understand your frustration…I really do. The thing is, whenever you add a new feature to a plugin or program, there is always the possibility it could break something. That’s one of the battles we have with trying to innovate.

But, we always fix everything reported to us very quickly.

All of the new features have the ability to be disabled in your admin.

I’m going to make an educated guess that the API call being blocked is related to a new feature in the plugin that protects all miscellaneous forms on a site from spam. This can be disabled in the admin by selecting the option, “Disable anti-spam for miscellaneous forms.” This should provide a workaround that will allow things to work as they did before.

Our main support venue is at the WP-SpamShield Support Form. It would be extremely helpful if you could submit a support request there and allow us to email back and forth with you to run a couple tests. It should take no more than a few minutes of your time for us to be able to build a permanent fix for this that will potentially help others who might have the same issue.

If you look through our 5 star reviews, you will see that everyone who has submitted a support request has been very happy with the results, and that we have gone above and beyond to help fix their problems. We’d like to be able to help you the same way, so please give us a chance to do that.

Very good. I’m glad to hear that it’s working well now.
