• I created a blog a few months ago with WordPress and having been posting comments occasionally plus receiving emails warning me about potential spam which I’ve gone in an deleted through the admin page. However, when I was going to tell someone how to access my blog so they could read and comment on different posts, I keep getting returned to the “Home Page” after the list of pages “flashes” by.

What am I doing wrong, or, better yet, what did I apparently do wrong in setting up the blog and how might I correct it, even if I need to restart from scratch.

    Thanks!

I don’t see anything wrong at all at the URL you listed.

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I don’t understand what you mean by

I keep getting returned to the “Home Page” after the list of pages “flashes” by.

The address you listed seems to be your home page for WordPress. But there is another page outside of WordPress at https://timlferg.com/ (unless you have a plugin that made this page). If you want to fix that “Coming soon” page, you can read the link on the Settings > General admin page, which is

    Giving WordPress Its Own Directory

Can I place a snapshot of the page I get when I go to https://www.timlferg.com/MyBlog from either of three browsers, Safari, Chrome, or Firefox?

I have saved the web page that comes up as an .HTML file, but feel a screen shot might be better?

Also, I have discovered that, if I scroll down my blog appears below the stock page that comes up which is a woman posing for a photo from a template for a photographer’s website.

    Thanks!

You can put a screenshot on your own site or on an image hosting site and link it here.
I often use https://www.postimage.org/ and the direct link (no signup needed).

Hmmm, before when I looked, I saw the pages just fine, with everything loading. (that “stock page” you mention is just the header image of the page)
Now when I look, most of the images and CSS are not loading. The Dev tools say they are 404.
    What did you change?

Well, I started down the instructions on moving WordPress to it’s own directory within the MyBlog directory and apparently missed a step or did a misstep?

At any rate, I went back to my GoDaddy CPanel and restored a recent backup and hopefully it is back.

If you will go to https://www.timlferg.com and click on the “Blog” link on the home page, the screen shot will appear.

The screen shot shows what I get when I go to https://www.timlferg.com/MyBlog. However, I can scroll down from there and see my blog and posts. Just need to clear out the stock photo that comes up in the background.

The domain URL just shows the “Coming Soon” text, no link to Blog so no screenshot.
Now the MyBlog URL goes to what I saw before, which is your site with everything working.
The image of the woman is from your theme. Go into Customizer and look for an option for Header Image or Background Image, and change it or remove it.

Ok, so all this time your problem is you just need to remove the stock photo? ??

You made it sound so much worse. ??

It’s either the Header or Background image: https://docs.mysterythemes.com/fotogenic/#!/general_settings

Or, it’s the Hero image: https://docs.mysterythemes.com/fotogenic/#!/homepage_panel

Very Interesting! When I go to https://www.timlferg.com, under the “TimLFerg.com is coming” are the four letters “Blog”. Clicking “Blog” brings up the screen shot just as it should.

But, you are right, I need to get rid of the stock photo. However the WordPress directory is clean of such photos. Will have to open that template and see just where that photo is and determine how it’s being used, probably an error I committed when installed it.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions, it’s been great.

Try the documentation I linked to in the reply above before you go messing around in the theme’s files.

That I will do, thank you. Actually using the WordPress site be a better host maybe?

    (@macmanx)

You don’t have to change hosts, just follow the theme’s documentation. ??
