    Site: https://www.mzakariya.com
    WP Version: 2.8

    Problems:
(*) WP-Admin is COMPLETELY messed up, and has been for several versions (see above). I’ve already tried re-uploading all the WP files.
(*) Some plugins don’t seem to work, at all.
—–> Askimet doesn’t seem to work at all. I have well over 3,000 spam comments, and the built-in moderation is no match.

Any help would be appreciated. I’d rather not have to completely delete it all and reinstall.

I don’t know if I can offer any help. I can tell you that I did delete EVERYTHING in my blog, right down to the MySQL stuff, and it stayed that way still ;(

    Good luck!

jill, are you aware of the iframe in this file?

    https://www.jmillgraphics.com/simplephics/wp-content/index.php

that looks to be something that’s associated with godaddy; nontheless that file should have nothing in it. Its not brought up in a browser except by snoopy snoops like me that are poking around looking for things that are broken.

same with this index.php, as well:

actually its in all of them — meh.

what happens when you change themes?

*Bump! Sorry .. my thread appears to have completely disappeared under a ton of new ones.

Does anyone have any idea what would cause this to happen (the issue in post #1)?

@jmillgraphics: That iframe is what you get when you use GoDaddy’s Free hosting service. It has a side effect of breaking WordPress, badly. Short answer: Don’t use their free hosting. Pay the $5 a month or whatever it is.

@mzakariya: Your site appears fine to me. I can’t see the image you posted because it’s blocked at my workplace, but the front end code looks good as does the login screen. What are you seeing?

The admin panel is completely .. wrong. The background is entirely white, and a large number of the features don’t work:

    (*) plugins
    (*) WP updating
(*) Askimet stopped working at that time too

It’s just being very .. odd, because I can’t really use a blog if I have to moderate 3,000+ spam comments.

My panel started looking like that as well. Same version.

Try a different browser and empty your browser cache to help rule out a browser problem.

Okay, I tried that and now I’m getting 500 errors…

I’ve tried different browsers, computers; etc. Trust me, it isn’t on my end.

Browser problems, malfunctioning plugins, theme problems, failed WordPress upgrades (missing or corrupt files), and hacking are some of the possible causes of a dashboard mess.

These are often due to a bad .htaccess or server problems at your web host.

Reading the posts above helped me solve an Admin. problem.
Some things that were not working properly, noteably:
    My PLUG-INS tab (thus, I couldn’t activiate plug-ins!)

iridiax suggested this, which worked & I am grateful:

I’m hoping it’s just a css issue. What’s the default stylesheet’s filename and where can I get a clean copy?

there is an entire directory of stylesheets inside wp-admin/css/

and you get clean copys by downloading the zip for the version of wordpress youre using. see the big orange download link at the top of every page???

    thats where you go.

I’ve already tried different browsers, and have already attempted re-uploading ALL files, and deleting .htaccess.

    Any other ideas?

mzakariya: Have you tried disabling all plugins and switching to the default theme?
