• I have had this issue for since August 19, 2014 and I can’t figure out what’s going on. My readers log into my website, https://www.SimplySimpleStamping.com, and they land on August 19th, 2014. They think I haven’t posted since then.

I have researched the heck out of this issue and I can’t figure out to fix it. This doesn’t happen to everyone but a lot of readers.

    I have tried:

    1. Deleting the August 19th post but it still shows up.
    2. Delete and repost the August 19th post.
    3. Posting a comment at the top of this post asking readers to click the HOME button so they can get to the current posts but my comment won’t show up.

I would give someone my first born if I could just figure out how to fix it.

Did you set it as a sticky post?

If not, try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue.

Thanks for your suggestion James but no luck. I deactivated every plugin but the link still goes back to August 19th. I don’t see where I have added a sticky post. I don’t have a plugin for sticky posts. Luckily I did a backup before I started because when I tried to switch to Twenty Fifteen all the work my web designer did on my blog disappeared so I had to restore it back.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sticky Posts are built into WordPress. Review https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Posts_Add_New_SubPanel#Descriptions_of_Post_Fields for instructions on how to use them and therefore how to check for them.

You should be able to easily switch the theme back at Appearance -> Themes without having to restore from a backup.

Did the problem go away when you used the Twenty Fifteen theme?

We aren’t trying to force you into another theme, this is just a very necessary and very temporary (1 or 2 minutes to check) troubleshooting step.

No, the problem didn’t go away when I switched to Twenty Fifteen. Unfortunately it just caused more issues because I couldn’t get it switched back to my original design. It took a lot of work to get it back to it’s original look. I understand that you weren’t trying to force me into a new theme but if all the work that I had on my original theme disappears, I’m not seeing the benefit of switching it. I would have to pay the web designer $$$ to redo my blog.

Also, when I did all this Jetpack said I had zero followers. Panic! I have over 5,300 and I thought I had lost them all. I’m not a computer genius and deleting Jetpack was the biggest nightmare ever. I don’t know if that would ever be a good suggestion to anyone to do unless they truly understand WordPress and all their codes.

My wonderful hubby took the day off and he came to my rescue. He got Jetpack back to where it should be, he got my subscribers back, and he fixed the issue with the August 19th post coming up by deleting the Expired Cache in the WP Super Cache Plugin.

Hm, I get the feeling you maybe did a bit more than just deactivate plugins and switch themes. I mean, yes you’ll temporarily have no subscriber number without Jetpack, because Jetpack controls your subscribers, but they’ll be back when you activate it again.

I’ve been doing this for well over ten years and have never lost data by switching a plugin off and on, and switching to and from themes.

With regards to WP Super Cache, it should be flushing itself regularly.

I recommend asking at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wp-super-cache#postform so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.
