• I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced issues like blog defamation or impersonation or other fraudulent behavior. If so, how did you deal w. it? Has anyone out there employed an attorney to defend themselves in similar circumstances?

I write a political blog & someone has created a blog which in part pretends to be written by me & which also defames me using pornographic language & other techniques ranging fr. sophomoric to disturbing.

  • I think you should e-mail him first before making any move.

I don’t know if this will be of use or not, but I recently found out about this link, so I’ll share it with you:

And what would I say? He’s clearly created the site to taunt me. What do you say to someone like that?

warn him! and if he didn’t stop yet… that’s the time to file a case.

    impersonation?

Im not a lawyer but ..

Firstly, remember that the WWW is just that, world-wide. What might apply to some doesn’t necessarily apply to all.

defamation is not accomplished solely by using pornographic language.

There is a God blog, should the real God e-mail first or just sue?

    (ooh, that was good)

You and your detractor are dancing on the rawest nerve in the world. Do you expect no flak?

So far, the worst I have had has been someone sending out emails to people who link to me. That person claims to be me and bashes them. I just made a post letting people know what was going on.

If the God blog said God performed sex acts on himself (as this jerk has done) then, yes I’d say he should sue or better yet, bring down a lightning bolt on the impostor.

Flak I expect. But not someone stealing my identity, my images & using pornographic language to defame me. That’s what you call “flak?” I’d use a tad stronger language.

“If the God blog said God performed sex acts on himself”

Boy I could really go off on a tangent with that, but I just wont go there.

    Lol… allow me whooami…

“If the God blog said God performed sex acts on himself”

Thats like asking someone… “If you were a hot dog, would you eat yourself?”

For reference, ReputationDefender is a “company” that advertises their servcises via blog comment spam and splogs. I’ve deleted tons of their blogs on my own WPMu install.

Yes, their website’s claim that once they find material about you online that you object to–that they will then go about getting it removed fr. the web struck me as improbable & unrealistic. How? With lawyers? Computer hackers?

    richards1052,

Promote him. I’m serious. Tell people about his site, and encourage them to go and take a look at the vindictive tool. People like that are their own worst enemies, a lot of what they say about others says a lot more about them. Give him exposure and let your visitors know about this clod.

And make fun of it. Make fun of his language and his thinking. Make fun of his obsession with you and his blatant immaturity. Ridicule him, for it’s very hard for people to take seriously someone who’s treated as a joke.

This guy isn`t doing this to make people believe his point of view, he is doing it to upset you. If you get upset he wins. I agree with mythusmage – you should write posts promoting this guy… “hey look at the quality arguments against my opinions at this site” etc.

Take the high ground and let him wallow in the sh&t. Let`s face it, if someone reads his site and is swayed by it would their opinion really be of interest/importance to you?

Reputation Defender is a legit business. They are the people handling the posting of the pictures of the girl killed last Halloween on the freeway in Orange County, California. The crash photos, most of them close-ups and VERY graphic were leaked to the WWW by a CHP employee.

They use attorneys. They use cease and desist letters.
