    Hi Friends,

Out of the blue this morning, the blog page/section of my WP site started giving me 404 error. I haven’t made any updated since last night when it was working. The only thing I did was to post a blog post.

Each post is there and can be seen with the a deep link. The main page that shows an excerpt of each posting is missing. Here is what i found out so far:

    – I deactivated all plugins (except one – Custom Field Suite, as it brakes the sites if removed) – still the same issue

    – I also changed the Permalinks. No errors, the new permalinks worked, but still the blog post is down.

I was running 4.1.5. up to this morning and just upgraded to 4.2.2. with the hope it might fix the issue, but no difference. I have an identical test WP site, which doesn’t have any of those issues.

    – In the Appearance>>Menus Pages section of the Admin panel, I don’t see the Blog as an option. This also makes me think WP can dynamically generate the blog page.

Here is the link to the blog section of my site – https://www.appbugs.co/home/blog

Any ideas what might be the reason?

    Thanks!

    Stan

Correction: I meant above “WP can’t dynamically generate the blog page.”

.htaccess file is in the right folder, and has the right code. It has 644 permission.

Update: I was able to find the Blog in the WP Trash. Not sure how this page ended up there. After I restore it, I found out that I can see only header and the heading of the page – no body section or Blog Sidebar. So, the main part of the page is missing – https://www.appbugs.co/home/blog/. The confusing part is that from the WP Admin >>Appearance >> Widgets I can see the Blog sidebar settings.

Question: How can I restore the Blog page to its previous state? The last time the page worked was on Sunday evening.

if you made a backup recently, you can restore it using ftp

also, you might want to check your urls in the general settings in the dashboard to make sure they’re correct. try doing this before you restore the backup.

    Thanks @girlspeaksgeek

Issue fixed. Somehow the blog was deleted. I found it in the trash. Then I had to designate the Blog page again as the main page for posts. Settings>> Reading Settings

Still a mystery how this blog page got deleted.
